THREAT TO BRITAIN

INVASION ATTEMPT LIKELY SOON ACCORDING TO WASHINGTON BELIEF. SIGNIFICANT INDICATIONS. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) NEW YORK. June 19. Large concentrations of German troops in Denmark and Norway combined with reports that the bulk of the Luftwaffe has withdrawn far inland for mass training in new tactics are looked upon in Washington as a certain indication that the long-awaited invasion of England is not far away. The massing of Nazi troops on the Russian border is regarded more as a political than a military move. Washington is gloomily predicting that Russia will sign a treaty giving the Nazis enormous economic concessions. The Washington correspondent of the “New York Post" expresses a confident opinion that the next blitz will be directed against Ireland or Scotland. His information is based on private information reaching Washington in the past 24 hours.
