MASTERTON SEAT

NATIONAL PARTY CANDIDATE MR G. H. MACKLEY SELECTED. MEETING LAST NIGHT. Mr G. H. Mackley. former General Manager of the New Zealand Railways, has been selected as the National Party candidate for the Masterton seat at the next General Election. The selection was announced at a meeting of members of the Masterton branch"of the party, held in the Opera House last night. Mr J. T. Jameson.

C.M.G., retired from the position of general manager of railways in 1939. He was born in Port Chalmers in 1883 and entered the railway service as a cadet at Otautau in 1900. After serving at various places he became chief clerk at head office, Wellington in 1928. He was assistant general manager from 1931 to 1933, when he became general manager. He resides at Lower Hutt.
