WOMEN’S DIVISION

I a RANG ITUM A U BRANCH MEETING. DONATIONS OF BLANKETS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Rangitumau branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers' Union was presided over by Mrs James. There was a fair attendance of members. Mrs James spoke on behalf of Lord Bledisloe’s appeal for blankets and woollen goods for men on the minesweepers in the North Sea, and it was unanimously decided to send blankets. There was an excellent collection of shortbread which’was to be sent to the A.N.A. Next month members are asked to take vegetables which will also be sent to the A.N.A. The competition for shortbread was won by Miss Harvey, Mrs Macdonald being second. Instead of the usual blooms competi-1 tion next month there will be one for one and three shrubs. This month's blooms competition resulted:—One bloom: Mrs Duckett. 1; Miss Kemble, 2. Three blooms: Mrs Duckett, 1; Miss Harvey, 2. The hostesses for the day were Mesdames Macdonald and O’Brien.
