STRENGTH OF WAVELL’S FORCES SUPPLIES OF EQUIPMENT FLOWING IN. NOW APPROACHING ADEQUACY. LONDON, June 17. , The encounters have been almost entirely between mechanised units. The British now have more planes in North Africa than ever, in spite of the diversion of a strong force to Syria. American planes are prominent at times. Oninion in Cairo is that the enemy air force is not yet fully employed, though both types of Messerschmitts are offering a stiff resistance. The British action has aroused enthusiasm and excitement in Egypt, specially because General Wavell has been strong enough to initiate operations on two fronts.
