The military authorities have announced that two tins containing scientific depth-sounding instruments, of German origin, have been washed up at the Wooliongong and Stanwell Pari; beaches, on the South Coast, The discoverer of one of the tins is in hospital. After finding the tin, he attempted to open it with an axe. With the first blow, the instruments exploded, showering him with fragments of metal. A warning has been issued to bathers to treat with care any other instruments they may happen to find.
