DAVIS CUP

LOCATION OF INTER-ZONE FINALS. DISCUSSION IN AMERICA. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received This Day, 12.35 p.m.) NEW YORK, July 14. The inter-zone finals discussion is developing a variety of interesting features. United States tennis officials point out that upon an agreement with the European Davis Cup Committee in February, the American authorities put the national doubles feature a week ahead and awarded the doubles and' inter-zone final to Boston. The Longwood Cricket Club incidentally underwent considerable expense in preparing for the inter-zone final and would be reluctant to relinquish it. It is agreed that if the inter-zone final were held at Montreal the gate would unquestionably be higher. An unofficial suggestion made here is that perhaps the Canadian authorities would recompense Longwood for its initial expenses and the European zone winners, in order to meet Hopman's objections (mentioned in an earlier cablegram) could agree to participate in the national doubles along with the Australians. It would then perhaps be possible to hold the inter-zone final al Montreal.

The present dates are for the doubles the week beginning on August 13 and for the inter-zone final, August 24 to 26. QUIST BEATS SANCHEZ. (Received This Day. 1.25 p.m.) NEW YORK. July 14. Quist defeated Sanchez, 6/1. 6/2. 6/2.
