CANTERBURY” PRICES FIRM. (By Telecraoh —Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, July 11. The demand from the North Island for potatoes is strong, and prices have firmed further since the beginning of the week. Today’s quotations to tanners were £l3 to £l4 a ton, according to delivery and station. The Waimarino, which left earlier in the week for Auckland, took approximately 6000 sacks of potatoes from Lyttelton and Timaru. It. is expected that two ships will take potatoes north next week. Locally-grown onions are not yet entirely absorbed, and high pj-ices are still being paid. Yesterday’s quotation to growers was £l6 a ton.
