COURSING
WAIRARAPA CLUB'S MEETING. EVENTS ON SATURDAY. The open stake to be run on Saturday by the Wairarapa Coursing Club in conjunction with the Watson Rose Bowl at the Akura Plumpton will be a contest of high-class greyhounds. Messrs James and Taylor’s Dainty Footsteps should be considered the logical winner, as she is running particularly well and is in the best of condition. Mrs L. H. Jones's The Slam will, if he can produce the form shown a fortnight ago. be a worthy rival. This dog is both fast and a smart worker. He can always be relied upon to run well. Mr W. L. Jensens’s Helen Rufus is another good prospect, who will test the best of the dogs competing. She was only just beaten by the ultimate winner in the Physick Cup recently. Mr La Roche, of Wellington, has nominated Desert Storm. Although an unknown quantity in the Wairarapa, in all probability he will put up a 'good showing as he is sure to be in good training and will perhaps be the surprise dog of the day. The draw will take place in the Y.M.C.A. tonight at 8.30 o’clock. At 7 p.m. the committee will meet to appoint officials, etc., for Saturday.
