The Premier, Mr Mitchell Hepburn, announced that the Ontario Cabinet had approved a suggestion that a haven be organised in Canada for English children in the. event of war. Under the scheme, thousands of Canadians would take as many children as possible into their homes for the duration of the war, under pledges to the parents. If a sufficient number were available, the Ontario Government would establish children’s homes.
