VISCOUNT GORT VISITING

PARIS

ATTENDING ARMY REVIEW

OCCASION REGARDED AS HISTORIC.

(British Official Wireless.)

(Received This Day, 10.50 a.m.) RUGBY. July 11

Viscount Gort, accompanied by other British staff officers, flies to Paris tomorrow on a two-day visit as the guests of the French Government on the occasion of the French national, fete day.

On Friday morning Viscount Gort will attend a review of the French Army, in company with Field-Marshal Gamelin and later will be present at a luncheon in the Elysee Palace —an historic occasion marking the close ties which now bind two great democracies of Western Europe, for it is the firsttime that France has invited any foreign officers to this luncheon, which is given annually by the President of the Republic to distinguished officials of the French Army.
