ST. JOHN AMBULANCE

CONCERT ON THURSDAY. Tickets are selling rapidly for the St John Ambulance concert in the Opera House next Thursday evening, organised by Mrs Edna Paterson to raise funds for the Cadet and Men’s Divisions of the St John Ambulance Brigade. It is only by the continued support of the public that this organisation can carry on good work. Funds are urgently required to provide more uniforms for the Cadets and it is hoped that by this effort the Division will be able to equip all recruits who have passed their entrance examination with uniforms. The programme has been arranged to please all. tastes and in addition to the work of the boys who have been trained by Mrs Paterson in camp-fire songs and sketches, leading local artists have generously offered their assistance. Items will be given by Miss Leah Johnson, Miss Beulah Hirst and Mr C. Clement (vocal solos). Miss Jean Mac Kay (pianoaccordion), Mr Avon Tatton and his team of gymnasts, a variety of elocutionary numbers by pupils of Mrs Edna Paterson and a team of physical drill by Wairarapa College girls. A special feature of the programme is a first-aid display by the Cadets, under the supervision of Cadet-Super-intendent C. S. McQuade and CadetOfficer A. V. Dean. This has been arranged to show the public the splendid work these boys could perform in a case of emergency. Reserves are free at the Arts and Crafts.
