WEDDING

PETERS—WILSON. (“TimesrAge” Special.) A wedding of considerable local interest took place in Carterton .on Saturday afternoon, the contracting parties being Alison Mary, second daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Wilson, of Carrington, and ‘Leslie Clarke, elder son of the late Mr Peters and Mrs Peters, of Lansdowne, Masterton. The ceremony took place at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian 'Church, -the officiating clergyman'being the'Rev. David McNeur, of the Presbyterian Manse. Lansdowne. The bride, who looked charming, was escorted up the aisle of the church by her father and was attired in a very dainty gown of cream satin, with high, neck, finished with a spray of orange blossoms, rucked semi-circular bodice, long sleeves rounded over the hands and long full skirt forming a train. A trailing veil was held in place with a halo of orange blossoms and a pleated tulle. She carried a lovely shower bouquet. The bride was attended by her two sisters, Misses Grace and Gladys VZilson. They respectively, wore frocks of pink and green floral sheer georgette over satin, made with rucked bodice and sleeve'; and swing skirts, halo head, bands of pleated tulle and pink roses; and each carried a pretty pink bouquet. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr D. Miller and those of groomsman by the bridegroom’s brother, Mr Percy Peters. When Mr' and Mrs Peters left the church the bride was presented with silver horseshoes by Rhys Davies, cousin of the bride, and William Sewell, nephew of the bride. After the -ceremony photographs were taken of the bridal party and upon leaving the studio they were showered with confetti and good wishes by a large number of friends and relatives.

At the Carrington Hall the wedding festivities were celebrated and the toast of the bride and bridegroom was honoured in bumpers. Mrs Wilson, mother of the bride, received the guests in a black ensemble and was assisted by the bridegroom's mother, Mrs Peters, who was dressed in a navy costume. Both wore shoulder sprays.

After the cutting of the wedding cake by the bride, the bride’s neice, Margaret Ann Wilson, daughter of Mr and Mrs George Wilson, was christened.

Mr and Mrs Leslie C. Peters left later by car on a tour of the North Island, Mrs Peters wearing a navy costume and accessories to tone.

The bridegroom’s present to the bridesmaids were gold bangles. Many beautiful and costly presents were received by the newly married couple. Upon their return from their honeymoon Mr and Mrs Peters will take up their residence in Masterton.
