THE FLOWER GARDEN. Dahlias can still be planted, but the operation should not be delayed. Gladioli plantings can continue until the end ot the month. Those planted at the beginning of the season need careful shaking. ~ Annuals of all kinds can still be planted. Zinnias, asters and marigolds in particular, should be planted in quantities for autumn flowering. Anemones sown now will provide flowers in winter and spring. Spray roses and other plants subject to attack by green fly with Black Leaf 40.

Mildew on delphiniums and roses can be controlled by dusting with flowers of sulphur.
