LAWN TENNIS

UNAFFLIATED CLUBS. A matter of interest to tennis enthusiasts is the formation of a “group” of unaffiliated clubs in Te Awamutu and the surrounding districts. At a meeting with this end in view, convened by Mr A. Bowler, representatives were present from Korakonui, Orakau, Te Mawhai, Te Rahu, Hairini, Methodist, Kihikihi, Puahue, and N.Z. Dairy Factory. It was unanimously decided to form a “group’ with organised matches, and much satisfaction was expressed at the spirit of one member (Mr Norman Double) who has generously donated a cup for competition. Considerable time was spent in drawing up rules governing the competition and the following management committee was set up:—Messrs A. Bowler (secretary), A. P. Harvey, A. O. Payne, W. MeGhie, and D. Christie. The following is the draw for the first round, which will be in three sections, commencing on January 18th, 1936: Section I.—January 18th: Te Rahu v. Hairini, at Hairini; Puahue a bye.

January 25th: Hairini v. Puahue, at Puahue; Te Rahu a bye. February Ist: Te Rahu v. Puahue, at Te Rahu; Hairini a bye. Section 2.—January 18th: Korakonui v. Te Mawhai, at Te Mawhai; Orakau a bye. January 25th: Orakau v. Te Mawhai, at Orakau; Korakonui a bye. February Ist: Korakonui v. Orakau, at Korakonui; Te Mawhai a bye. Section 3.—January 18th: Methodist v.
