HAMILTON STOCK SALE. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company reports:— Sheep: At Frankton sale on Tuesday a large yarding of fat sheep was penned, with steady’ competition all through. A medium entry of fat lambs sold at schedule ratesCattle: Ox beef was yarded in average numbers, our entry comprising mostly light-weight, good-quality steers. Competition was keen, with firm prices ruling. Bullocks from Mr T. M. Mall sold at £ll 6s, from Mr H. S. Hawkins at £9 12s 6d, and from Mr Frank Duck at £8 2s 6d to £9. A full yarding of cow and heifer beef, with only a small proportion of good-qua-lity cattle, for which the market remained firm, while second quality indicated no alteration, came forward. Vealers were penned in heavy numbers, and values remained at late rates. Boner cows and bulls came forward in usual numbers, the market showing an easing tendency. Pigs: An extra heavy yarding of fat pigs was received, competition for porkers being animated and rates ruling for closing sales were fully maintained. Baconers were not so keenly sought, with a consequent drop in this section, particularly for over-weight pigs. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company reports on its weekly Frankton stock sale held last Tuesday as follows: Sheep: The yarding was a goodsized one of grown sheep, containing a fair sprinkling of prime quality. Wether values were a shade below those ruling at the closing sale last year, but ewes maintained former levels. A good clearance, however, was effected. Fat lambs came forward in good numbers, and strong exporters’ competition prevailed, with rates consequently comparing favourably with schedule prices. Prime fat wethers made 23s to 245, lightfat wethers 21s 6d to 235, heavy fat ewes 16s to 18s 6d, medium fat ewes 14s to 15s 3d, heavy lambs 22s to 23s 6d, good fat lambs 20s to 21s 6d, inferior 17s to 20s. Cattle: Our ox beef entry was a heavy one, comprising principally good-class cattle. In the fat cow and heifer pens there were only a few of top quality, the majority being me-dium-class Jersey fat cows. The store and boner pens were well filled, and, as with the fat cows, a good demand existed, and business was transacted without change from rates ruling previous to Christmas. A number of potter bulls were noticeably easier in value. Good-quality fat Hereford bullocks made £9 10s to £lO 7s 6d, medium fat bullocks £8 to £9 ss, light £6 15s to £7 10s, heavy fat cows £4 15s to £5 10s, medium-quality fat cows £4 2s 6d to £4 15s, light killable cows £2 10s to £3 17s 6d, young good-quality cows £2 5s to £2 17s 6d, medium £1 14s to £2, boners £1 12s, vealers £1 5s to £1 15s.

Pigs: All classes of fat pigs were penned in very heavy numbers, and while the baconers were a fraction lower porkers met with very keen competition, values for these being well maintained. Store and weaner pigs were particularly well sought after, and a very good sale was recorded. Heavy baconers made £2 13s to £2 16s, medium baconers £2 9s to £2 12s, light baconers £2 6s to £2 9s, heavy porkers £2 to £2 6s, medium porkers £1 16s to £1 19s, light £1 10s to £1 15s, large store pigs £1 8s to £1 12s, medium ditto £1 4s to £1 7s 6d, slips 18s to £1 Is, large weaners 12s to 16s 6d, others to Ils.
