SOME GENEROUS GIFTS. Dr. Axel Munthe has written to the King of Sweden asking him to be responsible for the distribution of the 100,000 crowns which are the resu’t of the sales of his Story of San Michele. Notifying several other gifts he would like, he asks that 10,000 crowns shall be given in memory of Queen Astrid to the poor children of the lonely dwellers in the vast forests of Sweden; and that another 5000 shall go “to protect the bears against men and assure to them the right to live.”
