Mr G. S. Fry, of the staff of the Bank of New Zealand, Hawera, is at present on relieving duty at the Otorohanga branch of the bank.

The many friends of Mr P. H. Rowe, now of Hamilton, who conducts be pleased to learn that he has now left the Waikato Hospital, and is convalescing after several severe internal operations.

At least seven members of Mr Savage’s Cabinet are at present members cl local bodies. They are Messrs H. G. R. Mason, W. Lee Martin, D. G. Sullivan, W. Nash, P. Fraser, R. Semple and F. Jones.

His many friends will be pleased to learn that Mr H. Andrew, of Bank Street, who recently underwent an operation at the Waikato Hospital, is now definitely on the improve.

Miss Pat O’Neil, recently a nursing sister at the public hospital at Apia, Western Samoa, is at present visiting the King Country, where she is the guest of Mrs H. M. Quin, of Otorohanga.

Miss P. Steadman, teacher at Te Rahu school, has received intimation of her appointment to the staff of the Girls’ Grammar School, Suva, and is take up her new duties after the midsummer vacation. M;iss Steadman’s many friends in Te Awamutu district will join in the good wishes extended for her future.

Miss M. Griffin, of Dudley House School, Suva (Fiji), who has been spending a two months’ furlough in New Zealand, was the guest of Mrs 0. S. West, Teasdale Street, for a few days, leaving yesterday for Canterbury to visit other friends.

Te Awamutu residents who remember her appearance here a few months ago will perhaps be interested to learn that Miss Nita Rosslyn, ’ the “girl in red,” who is cycling through Now Zealand in the course of a world tour, was admitted to Nelson Hospital on Tuesday with concussion and cuts to the face and body, received when her bicycle skidded in loose metal on the Wangamoa Hill. Her condition is reported to be satisfactory.

It has been computed that the average age of members of the new Labour Cabinet is . about 56 years, compared with about. 62 years in the case *if Mr Forbes’ Cabinet. The youngest members are Mr H. G. R. Mason and Mr F. C. Webb, who are both 50. Mr ■W. Lee Martin, Minister of Agriculture, is the eldest, being 65 years old. Details of the ages of members are as follows: Mr M. J. Savage 63, Mr Lee Martin 65, Mr R. Semple 62, the Hon. Mark Fagan 62, Mr H. T. Armstrong 60, Mr W. E. Parry 57, Mr W. Nash 53, Mr D. G. Sullivan 53, Mr F. Langstone 52, Mr P. Fraser 51, Mr F. Jones 51, Mr Mason 50, Mr Webb 50.
