WAIPA COUNTRY ASSOCIATION. LAST SATURDAY'S GAMES. Two gianies were played last Saturday in continuation of the Waipa Cricket Association's championships. The weather was fine, and enjoyable contests eventuated. UNjITED v. TE AWAMUTU. This game, played at Albert Park, provided a vei'y close finish. Te Awamutu, batting first, opened with Rusden and Snowden, but the latter was promptly caught off Shepherd. Gell, the newcomer, also failed to stay, and it was left to Barnett to stop the rot. He was eventually bowled for 28 —ttop score of the innings. The total score was 109. United opened with Oram and Davis, and both played attractive cricket until Davis was clean bowled. As the score got near Te Awamutu's total there was keen interest, but the "tail" could not withstand the attack of'•Barnett and Roxborough, land all wei*e out for 108, Te Awamutu thus winning by one run. Opening la.t 3.30 he retired at 6 o'clock, after scoring 110. Batting vigorously, especially toward the end : when a draw seemed inevitable, he hit 4 long sixes. Spiers and James gave Nomads a fair start. York batted with force, his 23 including three sixes. Wjalsh and Kelly carried the score along quickly, followed by Coombes, who played confidently for an excellent 53 not out. Shepherd Snr. and Olsen were again the best bowlers. Hey and Dalt«on opened well for the School, the former being nicely caught behind with the total at 34. Dalton continued to score quickly, being helpby Slhepherd, Miller and Brewer, the latter being dismissed by a brilliant loft-hand catch by Climo.
