For the first Wellington wool sale this season, which will be held to-day, the total quantity catalogued is 16,024 bales, nearly 9000 bales below the limit fixed by the New Zealand wool committee, and the offering is likely to be still further reduced by growers' withdrawals. The catalogues for the second Wellington sale, to be held on January 7, closed on Wednesday, there being sufficient wool in the stores to fill the limit of 28,000 bales. It is expected that prices generally will be firm on the values realised at Auckland and Napier.
Te Awamutu is advancing. A public creche is being established, in conjunction wi'l'i, a* ladies' rest-room and book exchange.
