WAIPA RUGBY UNION
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS. Mr J. G. Wynyard (president) occupied the chair at the usual weekly meeting of the Waipa Rugby Union management committee on Monday evening. The Junior Advisory Board advised that the Teddy Shield, between Te Awamutu and Otorohanga district high school teams, had been postponed until Wednesday (to-morrow), to meet the convenience of the Otorohanga team. —Approved. The president's action in connection with travelling expenses for the tlilrc grade rep. team to travel to Matamata last Saturday as challengers for the Cucksey Cup was confirmed. For the Binnie Cup challenge matcii United (Cambridge) v. Suburbs (Waipa) to-morrow afternoon, Mr it. Callis was appointed referee, with Mr Craik as substitute if Mr Callis is not available. The secretary, Te Hoe Club, in Taupiri Sub-union, lodged a challenge for the Binnie Cup, under tlie belief tnat Taupiri had issued the challenge.—lt was decided to decline the challenge, as it was lodged too late. Hamilton Union asked for dates of a possible return match this season, but owing to the lateness of the season it was decided to decline the invitation, and an endeavour will be made to visit Hamilton early next season. Tokanui Club was granted perm:s sion to play an Otorohanga Maori team within the next three weeks. Accounts totalling £2 7s 9d were passed for payment. The chairman reported that R. Smith, a club official, under suspension by the Union, had apparently defied the latter body, as he had been present at Albert Park on Saturday last. The town clerk had informed the speaker that tlie Union had full authority to debar anyone from tne ground. —Further action was deferreo for a week.
