The case for the defence of William Alfred Bayly was further developed by his counsel, Mi- Northcroft, in the Supreme Court yesterday. Mr Northcroft commenced his address to the jury after lunch on Monday and it is expected he will complete it to-day. Counsel advanced the theory that an unknown third person had visited the Lakey home on Sunday, October 15, and had in some way become involved in the tragedy. He argued that the guns, bones and other material found on Bayly's property mur.t have been '-'planted" there by someone an»icus'to mislead the police. He also said that Lakey's death had never beer: proved, and that he might yet be found either dead or alive.
