“FATHERS' NIGHT”

AT TOKANUI CROSSROADS

A yery "successful function "-"took place at'the Crossroads Hall last "Friday evening, when the " fathers " gave the members of the Tokanui branch of the;.League of ,M' ot hers a social evening in their honour. There were assembled about 150; including as" guests members of the Ngahape branch,. L.0.M., also friends from Korakohur arid Waikeria, and to all a very warm, welcome was extended by Mr A. S./Wyliie.. Many varied competitions and games provided the entertainment, including an item of interest in which several of the fathers pe.fcrmed behind a screened staging, the sudience having to guess who were the performers after each item. Very enjoyable vocal sclps were renderedby 1 Mr"Aristeiv ' : (P6kuru> a humorous reading by Mrs H. Wfyllie, and a."" fetation Joy• M'r Ansten (Tokanui). Several apologies weije received. Mrs F, H. Barnett, president of the branch, ..Qn-.b.ehaif of the. League, of Mothers inemDei*s. lappreciatiori and gratitude to the "fathers for the interest. Jhey. had .taken in arranging the evening, and several of the ladies presented tokens of appreciation to -tJie«M.C,-s r Messrs A, S.~*»d- H. Wyiiie. Also M,r F. H. Barnett and Mr Tiling, the husbands of. the L.O.M. president and secretary rer-pectively, and several other gentlemen received similar tokens"/ all of which for then* varied artistic , arrangement were highly commented upon.
