SAYINGS BANK FIGURES.

THAMES, Monday. “Money is now running back into the Pest Office Savings Bank, and that is one of the best indications of New Zealand’s return to better days, said the Postmaster-General, the Hon. A. Hamilton, when speaking at the opening of the Waitakaruru post office to-day. Mr Hamilton said the excess oi withdrawals of Savings Bank deposits had been very marked in 1931 and 1932. Indeed, in July, 1931, the excess had been £1,147,880, while in five other months the withdrawals exceeded the deposits by ever £500,000. The excess of withdrawals in the 12 months ended April, 1933, was £2 479,272. ' Now,-he was pleased to say, the money . was running back into the post office. From May, 1933, to April,. 1934, the excess of deposits over withdrawals totalled £2,037,062.
