TE AWAMUTU STOCK SALE. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Hamilton, report on their Te Awamutu stock sale held on Thursday as follows: Cattle: The yarding of cattle was comprised of a moderate number of fat cattle, with a few pens of ox beef, the cow beef entry, being mostly med - ium quality, a full row of cull cows, a few potter bulls and a large entry of yearling and in-calf Jersey heifers. Fat cattle prices were well maintained, practically everything changing hands, while values for potter bulls and cull cows were also about level with current rates. Though most of the heifers sold, vendors were rather disappointed with the results obtained, difficulty being experienced in bringing purchasers to bid up to near the reserves. Despite this, there was a better interest in a few dairy cattle, and quite satisfactory prices were secured. We quote: Heavy fat bullocks £6 5s to £6 13s, medium do £5 14s to £6 2s 6d, light do £5 15s to £5, heavy fat cows £3 12s 6d to £4, medium £2 17s 6d to £3 10s, light do £2 2s to £2 12s 6d, forward conditioned cows £1 18s to £2 2s, medium stores £1 Is to £1 12s, inferior do 18s to £1 3s, potter bulls to £3 10s, small in-calf Jersey heifers £1 15s to £2, good grown do £2 10s to £3 9s, good yearling heifers to £1 14s, medium dairy cows to £4. Sheep: Fat sheep of all classes wei’e in medium supply, while a large entry of forward store lambs was yarded. Throughout, exporters kept the bidding lively, good prices being secured for the whole yarding. We quote: Heavy fat wethers 23s to 24s 6d, medium do 21s to 235, prime heavy ewes 21s 6d to 23s 6d, medium do 18s to 20s. light do- 15s to 17s 6d, prime lambs 23s to 255, medium 19s to 22s 6d, good forward lambs 16s to 18s, forward store lambs 14s to 16s, medium do 11s to 13s 6d, in-lamb s.m. ewes 18s to 20s, inferior do 15s 6d to 17s 6d. Pigs: A small entry of fat pigs met with a steady sale, and sold on a. par with Frankton rates. Lighter fat pigs showed an easing tendency, in sympathy with the reduced “ hook ” prices. A total c.-ear-ance was effected in the store and weaner sedtion, the large yarding comprising mostly weaner pigs, selling at very satisfactory prices. We quote: Medium baconers £2 12s to £2 17s, light do and heavy porkers £2 4s to £2 11s, medium porkers £1 13s to £2 Is, light do £1 5s to £1 Ills'; good stores 18s to £1 4s Gd, poorer do 15fs to 17s 6d, slips 12s to 15s 6d, good weaners 7s to 10s 6d, inferior do up to 5s 6d. MATAMATA STOCK SALE. Messrs Dalgety & Co., Ltd., Hamilton, report having held their usual stock sale at Matamata on Wednesday, as under: A full yarding of cattle and a small yai'ding of sheep came forward, and sold under keen competition at prices fully up to late market rates. Following are the prices realised:— Sheep: Medium condition ewes, empty 12s 6d, store lambs 13s 6d, low condition ewes running with ram 12s 6d. Cattle: Fat steers £6 4s, heavy fat cows £5 to £5 9s, medium fat cows £4 to £4 15s, light fat cows £2 15s to £3 10s, heavy fat heifers £4 to £4 7s 6d, medium £3 10s

Pigs: A good entry of fat pigs came forward and met with a ready sale at prices well up to ruling Frankton rates. Prime heavy baconers £2 18s to £3 6s, medium £2 15s to £2 18s, light £2 10s to' £2 14s, heavy porkers 34s to 375, medium 30s to 335, light 26s to 295, others 22s to 245. Store pigs: A small yarding and a ready sale at prices in advance of low rates. Large stores 17s 6d to 19s, medium 14s to 16s, small 11s to 13s, good slips 10s 6d to 11s, good weaners 7s to 9s 6d. OTOROHANGA STOCK SALE. N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Hamilton, report on their Otorohanga stock sale, held on Wednesday, as follows: All classes of stock came forward in good numbers. The cattle entry, though of principally plain fat and store cows, contained a few pens of well fatted cows and heifers, and these met with a particularly good demand, Frankton rates being exceeded, while medium fat cows were on a par. We yarded also a large entry of sheep, the greater part of which were store and forward lambs, but a number of fat lambs and wethers were also sold. Bidding on all sorts was brisk, and a complete clearance was effected. Pigs

were in smaller supply, but a further improvement in prices resulted. The entry was mostly stores and weaners.
