HAIRINI v. TE MAWIHAI. The Hairini and Te Mawhai Clubs played their second matches for. the Puniu Shield competition at Hairini on Thursday evening. Te lYPawhai gained the major points, winning .42 matches out of the 60. The visitors scored 1764 points to 1390 compiled by the home team. In congratulating the Te Mawhai players on their win, Mr K. Balme referred eulogistically to their high standard of play and conc.uded by expressing the hope that Hairini would give them as good a game at the next meeting. Mr Perrot, in reply, thanked the Hairini Club for the very pleasant evening that had been given them and while he could not say he war. sorry his team had wen he hoped that the Hairini team would turn the tables on the next occasion.

Following supper, dancing was indu ged in to music generously supplied by members of both clubs. The evening concluded by the visitors giving three hearty cheers fov their hosts who similarly Seciprocated.
