TABLE TENNIS

TOKANUI HOSPITAL V. TE MAWHAI. A Puniu Table Tennis Shield competition match was played in the Te Mawhai Hall last Friday -evening, when Tokanui Hospital Club’s team were the visitors. Excitement was rife in the last game of the evening, both teams having equal numbers of games to their credit, thus making the last the decider. The Hospital team was fortunate in winning this game, the aggregate games being: Hospital 26, Te Mawhai 25, points, Hospital 1430, Te Mawhai 1310. Mr Perrott, in thanking the Hospital team for giving them such a pleasant, and also such a keen contest, hoped that Te Mawhai would be able to reverse the tables in their next contest with the Hospital. Mr J. Howie, on behalf of the Hospital, thanked Mr Perrott for his kind remarks, and eulogised the home club upon the splendid supper supplied by the ladies. He also hoped that the match would "be as keenly contested when Te Mawhai visited Tokanui. A, further shield game between Te Mawhai and Hairini will take place at Hairini on Thursday evening.
