WAIKERIA ESCAPEES

TWO MEN GET AWAY DURING NIGHT. Officers on duty at the Waikeria Borstal Institute discovered at an eali'ly hour this moi’ning that two of the inmates had made their escape during the night. The alarm was given and all efforts are now being concentrated upon apprehending them. The missing men are:— Bernard Charles Cole, aged 30 years, described as a farm labourer, about 6ft. in height, with fresh complexion and fair hair, blue eyes. He knows the Te Awamutu district well, and warked for some time on a farm in the Paterangi district. _ He was sentenced in connection with a burglary and theft at Ohaupo some time ago. Frank Robert Baker, described as a labourer and motor driver, 21 years of age, and sft. lOin. in height. He has fair hair and complexion. He is believed to have come from North Auckland. The local and district police are cooperating with the Waikeria officials in an effort to recapture the two men.
