WAIPA UNION'S PROPOSALS. LIMITATION OP SENIOR TEAMS. iFor some time past a section of Rugby supporters in and around Te Awamutu have been advocating limitation of senior teamls in the Waipa Rugby Union's futulre competitions, as a means of improving the standard of play. The Union itself has discussed the suggestion on several occasions, and finally it was decided to convene a special general meeting to consider a definite motion. 1 This meeting was held on Thursday evening at the Town Hall, but the attendance was by no means as large as the effect of the proposal merited. Mr Whitton occupied the chair, and after the motion had been read he invited discussion. Delegates from some of the clubs immediately expressed their support of the m,otion, contending that there was little need to recaptulate the arguments that had been advanced in former discussions. There was little to be adduced against the proposal, except that it might impose something of a hardship on established clubs. However, in the resultant discussion it was evident there was a majority of voting in favour of the motion and approval of the principal of limitation of teams was given. Just how to bring the change into operation most effectively was somewhat of a puzzle, but the meeting decided to set up a committee comprising Messrs W. McCready, H. Brill, A. F. Brewer, A. Emett, H. Worthington and the secretary (Mr H. T. Haselden) to prepare recommendations for submission to a later general meeting.
