LENGE.

OTOROHANGA V. TE AWAMUTU.

Five rinks of Otorohanga bowlers visited Te Awamutu last Saturday afternoon for an inter-club contest, with three of them challenging for the King Country Cup, held by Te Awamutu. The visitors were warmly welcomed byi Mr D. McArthur, vice-president of the local club, who apologised 3°r the absence of the president and referred to the pleasurable contests that have always eventuated between the two clubs. Rowe, heartily thanked Te Awamutu players for an enjoyable afternoon's play and added that though the challenge for the Cup had again proved unsuccessful the friendly spirit in which the games were played was always uppermost. North and J. Hawkins, skip) that recently* won the southern section of the champion of champions full-rink competition was again successful on Saturday, at Cambridge, by defeating Putaruru (winners of the south-eastern section) by 27 points to 16. Te Awamutu scored 4. 1 and 4. in""the first three heads, and Putaruru replied with 2, 1 and 5. Then T e Awamutu put on 1,2, 2 and 2, making the scores: Te Awamutu 16, Putaruru 8, on the tenth head. Putaruru got a 3 on the next, Te Awamutu 1 on the twelfth, followed by three singles for Putaruru. On the sixteenth Te Awamutu got a 4 and then a 1. Putaruru scored 2 on the eigtheenth, and Te Awamutu followed with 3 and 2, the game ending on the twentieth head. At Hamilton, Claudelands defeated Cambrdige in the final of section D, and Glen Massey defeated Frankton in the final of section B. Playing at the Claudelands Club's "at home" last Saturday a Te Awa-. mutu team skipped by G. Angus defeated Paterson (Claudelands) by 27 points to 16.
