EARTHQUAKE IN SOUTH

SEVERAL CENTRES SHAKEN. WELLINGTON, Wednesday. A sharp earthquake occurred at 1.17 th's morning. Records at the Dominion Observatory indicate that the origin was between 80 and 90 miles distant from Wellington in a south-westerly direction. This would account for the fact that Blenheim felt the shake fairly severely. The ground during the earthquake was tilted to the south. BLENHEIM, Wednesday. The earthquake this morning was of a fairly minor nature here. It was pz'onounced enough to arouse most sleepers, but caused no great concern. No damage was feared and none of any sort is reported.
