TOLL OF CROSSING
THIS YEAR'S ACCIDENTS.

AUCKLAND, this day. Level-crossing accidents continue to levy their toll on human life in WSW Zealand. To date this year thSs-ss have been 29 accidents at level-cross-ings, the majority of them beng the result of collisions between motor-cars and trains. From these accidents five people have been killed and 24 injured. • , , ~ Although only seven months of the year have nassed the as cornDared with previous vears, shows Utilelmprovement. For the complete 12 months last year there were 34 accidents on crossings m which 13 neople were killed and 21 injured. Already this year there have been nearly as many accidents and the casualty list of deaths and injuries is only five short of last year's total. During the past 10 years the most serious list of crossing accidents occurred in 1930 when there were 65 acc'dents, 'resulting in 34 deaths and 21 cases of injury.
