Flying Officer D. W. Morrish, R.A.F., an old Otorohanga boy, has graduated in aviation with the Aviation Institute of U.S.A. Mr Morrish left New Zealand two and a-half years ago to join the Royal Air Force, and he is now posted to No. 26 Squadron, Richmond, Yorkshire. Mr Morrish's parents at present reside at Whangarei.

The contest for the Parry-Row-land Shield was played on the local golf links on Saturday afternoon, when the combination of Mrs Craig. 94—28—66, and Mr Mcßobie, 74—10--64 lifted the trophy. A feature of the contest was' recorded when McRobie holed out in one—from "Tiny Tim"—llo yards away. This was the event of the day's piay, Par for the first three holes was 5—3—4 and McRobie started off with s—l—3.

The Otorohanga basketball team" played Te Kuiti girls here on Saturday, the visitors being defeated by a narrow margin.

Under the auspices of the Farmers' Union, Mr J. O. Shearer, M.A., delivered an interesting, and educational lecture here last night. He touched on the various problems of the present economic situation and received a most attentive hearing throughout his interesting lecture. The speaker dealt exhaustively with the McMillan report, the Douglas credit scheme, and the planning of industrial developments of nations. A number of questions were asked and answered. An Otorohanga-owned car, and a heavy truck, came into violent contact at a narrow part of the serpentine Te Anga 7 Waitomo Caves Road, on Saturday, resulting in very extensive damage to the car. Fortunattely the occupants of the vehicles escaped injury.
