750 MEN FOR TREE-PLANTING. (Bv Telegraph. Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. Under arrangements recently completed by the Unemployment Board and the State Forest Service, the latter will immediately ' proceed with the planting of trees on 50,000 acres in the Auckland, Rotorua, Palmerston North, Southland, Canterbury and Nelson districts. To undertake the work, the services of approximately 750 men w T ill be engaged, while in addition 200 men, whose service would otherwise have had to be dispensed with, will be retained. All the labour required will be obtained through the various lab- 1 our bureaux, and the duration of the work will be about five months. The men will be accommodated in existing Forest Service camps, and where the sire of a camp warrants such a course being taken, a cook will be provided by the Unemployment Board.
It is intended to place the newlyengaged men at the following placesRotorua, 200; Tairua, 130; Riverhead, 60; Maramarua, 35; Karioi, 25; Nelson i 150; Canterbury, 130; Southland, 20.
