GREAT SOUTH ROAD
PLANS NEARLY READY. The engineer stated at Monday’s meeting of the Waipa County Council that he hopes to complete by the end of the month, or early in January, the plans and specifications for reconstructing and surfacing with bitumen the whole length of Great South Road within the county, a length ”*of 32 miles. It had been a very difficult and intricate task, and the full cost of the road, including • a new bridge over the Puniu Stream south of Kihikihi, would be in the vicinity of £130,000. Mr Civil added that he purposed working right through the holiday season in an effort to complete the specifications for submission to the Main Highways Board.
