TESTING DAIRY COWS

LOWER BUTTER-FAT AVERAGE. (By Telegraph. Press Association). HAMILTON, Monday. A big increase in the number of cows tested by the New Zealand Cooiperative Herd-Testing Association is shown in the association's figures for August, compared with those for the corresponding month last year. There is, however, an appreciable drop in the average yield due to seasonable conditions.

Last month 44,557 cows were tested, the average yield being 6371 b of milk and 27.791 b butter-fat. The test was 4.35. In August, 1930, 37,317 cows were tested. The average yield was 6691 b milk and 29.471 b butterfat. The test was 4.3.
