FINAL SCREENING TO-NIGHT.

“ The Saturday Night Kid ” came again to the Empire Theatre last night to the tune of a well-deserved rounds of applause fi’oni the audience “ The Saturday Night Kid,” be it known, is Clara Bow herself. This time she is an ambitious little sales girl in a big department store. She falls for James Hall, handsome floorwalker, but he begins to forget her when he gets a promotion from his boss. In order to make him think her more desirable, Clara deliberately establishes a reputation for herself as a “ Saturday Night Kid,” a girl who makes an appointment with a different young man every Saturday night. Her younger sister, Jean Arthur, also a store employee, makes a play for Jimmie. But she gets in a jam by squandering company funds on the horse races. When the showdown comes, Jean lies, and tells her superiors that Clara stole the money. , Miss Bow did a great job of acting in “ Ladies of the Mob,” “The Wild Party,” and “Dangerous Curves ”,—proof' that she requires only a good part to give her talents the great display they deserve. She does an even better job of it in “ The Saturday Night Kid.” In short, it is a wellrounded play for a well-rounded girl. “ CARELESS AGE.” FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. The love of a young boy for an older actress, a love unrequited, is the theme of “ The Careless Age,” the dramatic First National-Vitaphone picture which comes to the Empire Theatre Friday and Saturday. Douglas Fairbanks, Jnr., plays the boy, and Carmel Myers the actress m this actress in this fascinating story of a hectic vacation at beautiful Lake Como, and of the dramatic events which follow in London theatres and other centres of the English metropolis. Loretta Young also has a leading role. “The Careless Age” is adapted from John van Druten’s successful broadway stage success, “Diversion,” and has been given a rich and elaborate production. The Continental and English scenes are colourful and at times exotic. In these setting the love story is told with gay abandon, culminating in a climax that is unexpected and highly dramatic. A splendid cast is seen in support of Fairbanks and Miss Myers. Holmes Herbert, Kenneth Thomson, Doris Lloyd, Wilfred Noy and many other cinematic favourites are included in the all-star list of players. “ The Careless Age ”is expected to be one of the dramatic treats off the present season.
