WAIPA RUGBY UNION
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS.
Mr A. J. Shepherd presided at the weekly meeting of the Waipa Rugby Union management committee on Monday evening, and also present were Messrs G. H. Silvester, G. Reynolds, G. Jeffs and H. T. Haselden, secretary. Geo. Hagan applied for a clearance from the Union, having left the district. The secretary said he had made inquiry from the Kihikihi Club, and found that that club had no knowledge of the applicant.—The clearance was granted. One account, for £1 11s 3d, was passed for payment. The Waikato Rugby Union secretary forwarded the draw for the Waikato Junior Championship Cup competition, first round.—Received.
The Waipa junior rep. team to play Cambridge at Cambridge next Saturday will be in charge of Mr Reese.
The secretary, Waipa Primary Schools’ Rugby Union, wrote thanking the Union for financial assistance in sending the Waipa team to Hamilton to play a curtain raiser to the British match, on August 2nd. The secretary reported that Hamilton Union had invited Waipa to take up Morrinsville’s challenge for the Peace Cup next Saturday, versus Hamilton, as Morrinsville was now required to defend the Finlay Cup on that date.—Agreed to, and Mr Jeffs was appointed manager. Mr Shepherd reported on the visit of the Morrinsville reps, last Saturday, and that the Finlay Cup had been duly handed over.
It was arranged to play a third grade rep. team from Cambridge on Saturday next, at 2.15 p.m., Mr Jas. Moisley being appointed manager. It was decided that an endeavour be made to get the junior and third grade rep. teams together for a practice before Saturday. The chairman mentioned that the final for the Teddy Shield, between Cambridge and Te Kuiti school teams, had been fixed for Saturday next, at Te Awamutu, and he asked that the match be scheduled for 12,45 p.m.— Agreed to. A grant of, £5 was made towards the expenses of sending a primary schools’ team to Pukekohe to compete in the Roller Milling Shield tourney.
A special general meeting of the Union is to be held on Wednesday, 27th inst., to discuss the question of club boundaries, and Ohaupo enthusiasts are to be notified.
