! HAMILTON STOCK SALE. Messrs Dalgety and Co. Ltd. report having held their usual weekly stock sale at Frankton saleyards on Tuesday last. There was an average yarding of beef, but the major portion of it was only second quality, only a few choice, pens being yarded. The demand was weaker than usual. Choice heavy young cows sold at up to £9 15s, ordinary fat cows and heifers £7 to £8 15s, light young cows £4 15s to £5 17s 6d, runners to £5 10s. There was a good yarding of store cattle, but owing to the heavy yarding of sheep and being so late before commencing on the store cattle the majority of buyers had left the sale, and there was only a very small amount of business, the majority being turned out unsold. We sold a pen of three year steers at £lO, a pen of yearling Shorthorn steers (moderate quality) £5 ss, bulls £4 ss, to £B, dairy in-calf heifers £6 10s. There was a very large yarding of sheep, every pen and all the races being filled, and possibly about 8000 of all classes yarded. Fat sheep sold on a par with late rates. Fat heavy wethers made up to 34s 6d, fat ewes 20s 6d to 225, fat Woolly lambs 24s to 28s 6d. The demand for store sheep was weaker and a good many lines were passed at auction. Our yarding comprised about 3600 and the following were our principal sales: 179 m.s. shorn lambs 17s 3d, 40 cull lis 6d, 58 small woolly lambs 14s 3d, 54 14s 6d, 84 13s, 45 fat ewes 225, 68 21s 9d, 195 4 and 5 year ewes 265, 72 m.a. ewes 18s, 33 mixed aged ewes 24s 9d, 38 cull ewes 12s 6d, several pens of cull ewes 14s 6d to 17s 6d. There was a large yarding of both fat and store pigs. Heavy prime baconers £3 5s to £3 16s, medium baconers £2 14s to £3, best porkers £2 5s to £2 9s, light ditto 38s to £2 3s, choppers £2 to £3 3s, best stores 28s to 365, slips 14s to 19s, weaners 6s to 12s 6d. The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report:— "At Frankton Stock Sale on Tuesday last, Ave had a heavy entry of cattle, beef showing a further decline in prices, while fat sheep were practically on a par with previous sales. A heavy yarding of young cattle came forward the majority failing to reach the reserve and were passed in. Store sheep.—Probably the largest yarding that has come forward for some considerable time, but did not meet with the same competition _as previous sales. Lambs and breeding ewes were effected most.

Pigs.—A heavy yarding of baconers and porkers were firm and in good demand at late rates. The market was quiet for store pigs and weaners. We quote:— Light fat steers £l2; heavy fat cows £9 to £lO 17s 6d; medium fat cows £7 10s to £8 ss; lighter £6 to £7 2s 6d; forward conditioned cows £4 15s to £5 10s; store cows £3 5s to £4 ss; Jersey heifer calves £3 10s to £4. Sheep.—Fat wethers 33s to 34s 6d; fat ewes 19s 6d to 22s 9d; fat lambs 25s to 28s 6d; forward conditioned 4-tooth wethers 29s to 31s; forward conditioned 2-tooth wethers 27s to 28s 6d; 2-tooth ewes 25s 6d; s.m. breeding ewes 22s to 245; f.m. breeding ewes 13s 3d to 17s lOd; good woolly m.s. lambs 22s 4d; shorn ewe lambs 20s 6d; shorn m.s. lambs 18s 3d; woolly wether lambs 18s 3d to 19s; shorn wether lambs 17s to 17s 3d; cull lambs 12s to 14s lOd. Pigs.—Prime heavy baconers £2 12s to £3 16s; medium £3 5s to £3 8s; lighter £2 18s to £3 2s; heavy porkers £2 10s to £2 15s; lighter porker £2 to £2 ss; stores 19s to £1 4s; slips lis to 16s; weaners 4s 6d to 10s. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report: At the Frankton sale on Tuesday last there was a heavy yarding of both cattle and sheep. We penned beef in average numbers, the quality with few exceptions being only moderate, and there was a decided drop in prices. Store cattle were dull of sale. Fat sheep eased slightly in values also, and the demand for stores was weaker. We quote: Fat cows £8 12s 6d to £9 10s, plain £6 12s 6d to £6 18s, light fat heifers £6 to £6 15s, boner cows £3 10s to £4 10s, veal calves £2 to £2 Bs, weaner Jersey cross heifers £2 17s to £3 Is, fat wethers 33s 6d to 34s 6d, aged fat ewes 16s to 19s, 2 tooth wethers 26s 6d, good conditioned lambs 18s' 3d to 18s 6d. Our entry ot fat and store pigs was again a large one. Prices remained on a par with last week's sale. A nice line of 20 pigs fattened by Mr E. R. Vernall, oi Frantkon, topped the market at £3 17s. Heavy baconers £3 12s to £3 17s, medium £3 3s to £3 Bs, light bacon ers and heavy porkers £2 l«Ts to £3, medium porkers. £2 2s to £2 10s, lighter £1 16s to £1 19s, stores 25s to 295, slips 14s to 20s, weaners 5s to 10s.
