SWIMMING
MONDAY NIGHT’S CARNIVAL.
RECORD NOMINATIONS. The entries for the local Swimming Club’s carnival, to be held in the Municipal Baths on Monday night, are a record and include the best swimmers in the South Auckland district. The chief event of the evening is the men’s 220 yards South Auckland championship, and so far there are five entries, with Cambridge and Morrinsville nominations still to come. A very pleasing feature is the manner in which the ladies’ events have filled, there being at present eighteen nominated in the 33 1-3 yards (nine from Hamilton) and thirteen in the 50 yards handicap. Miss Gaze, who won the 75 yards ladies’ championship last week, will be a competitor, while in the men’s events several South Auckland champions will be seen in action. There is little doubt that Monday night’s carnival will be the most successful yet held by the local club.
