EFFECT OF RECENT GALE

CYCLONIC GUST'S VAGARIES. WAIHI, This Day. A remarkable incident related in connection with the last week-end westerly storm which caused much damage to buildings in the main thoroughfore was the manner of demolition of a brick chimney from the roof of Mr John Bottrell's residence. During a cyclonic gust the chimney, which stood six feet above the ro'.f, was blown to the level of the roof and hurled to the ground clear of the building. "Not one brick," stated Mr Cottrell, "dropped on to the roof and practically all of them were strewn about singly some yards away from the residence."
