BEAUTY CHAT

An ingenious and highly entertaining beauty chat, evolved by the National Milk Publicity Council, has enlisted the interest of young girls in wholesome foods in girls’ clubs and factories all over the country. The lecturer takes as her model those indefatigable saleswomen placed in some large shops to attract the pas-ser-by in some special article, while assembled on the table in front of her are her “beauty products”:— “No dressing table is complete without rouge, but the bdst kind consists of creamed carrots, Nature’s own paint brush. No matter how tender or delicate your skin, you can use yellow carrots cooked in white milk twice a week. By mixing these two colours within the body, a promising colour will appear on the cheek. “If you are pale and sallow, try our skin softener—an apple hanging from the bough of the fruit tree. It is delivered in air-tight packages, but always eat the skin. “Our most important product is cowls’ vanishing cream. Kings, queens, actresses, film stars, and babies all recommend it. It gives you good bones, white teeth, and sparkling smiles. We manufacture enough for everyone to absorb four glasses a day. “Here is our complexion powder extracted ft;om wholesome cereals—porridge, rice, and, barley, equally well suited to blonde or brunette. The best powuler puffs are fluffy potatoes baked in their skins, but always eat the skin. Eye sparklers, made from the phosphorus in creamed onions, are excellent. “We have vanity cases in several shades of green, made from, leafy vegetables; the Ispinach case is, perhaps, the most popular amongst business women. English girl are yours—for the rat ing!”
