BURGLAR IN CHURCH
BUT .SECURES NO SPOIL. (By Telegraph. Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. An attempt at theft was made at the Sacred Heart Church at Addington, on Monday, when a man made an effort to open the Tabernacle in the altar. His efforts were unsuccessful, but the door was slightly damaged. Apparently the offender was looking for money boxes, hut there are none of these in the church. The then seems to have made an attempt to open the Tabernacle, apparently-using a screwdriver to force the lock. Two ladies saw the man enter the church about noon, hut as there were children playing around, he left after a short stay. He was again seen to enter the church between four and five o’clock in the afternoon, when he stayed for a considerable time. The church is always open during the day.
