There was not a large poll, only 1314 out of 5342 ratepayers on the roll voting on the Hamilton Borough Council’s proposal to raise a loan of £IB,OOO for the purpose of erecting new municipal offices. Tire proposal wafc rejected by a majority of 162 votes, the voting being 576 for and 73S against.
It may interest Rugby players to note a new ruling just, issued by the New Zealand Referees’ Association bearing on the marking of a ball. It is now optional for a player who takes a mark outside his own 25 line to retire behind that line and then kick the ball to touch on the full, the throw-in to be taken where the ball crosses the touch-line.
