WAIPA RUGBY UNION

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. The usual weekly meeting of the management committee was held last evening, the following being presentMessrs F. Quin (chairman), W. Whitton, S. A. McNamara, G. S. Clarke, W. McCarthy, G. Reynolds, G. Gifford, H. T. Haselden, and the secretary Mr E. T. Crump. Apologies for absence were received from-Messrs G. Melrose, F. Gillett and A. A. Reese. A letter was received from the Pirongia. club in explanation as to why their junior team was late in arriving for their game with Parawera on 3rd July—Deferred until next meeting for consideration. The Te Kawa club advised that its team would not compete in the Ballistite Cup competition owing to the difficulty in securing senior players, also agreeing to the transfer of players to other clubs—Norton, Gugech, Narby and Wallis were transferred, to United and Thompson to Parawera.

Mangapiko and Hairini schools applied for a grant from the schools football fund—Each granted 10s. A deputation from Te Kawa club waited on the Union in explanation of the position regarding Ngakaho.

After hearing the facts concerning the case as presented by the deputation it was decided that the decision arrived at last meeting stand. Owing to the fact that Ngakaho did not wilfully mislead the Te Kawa club it was also decided to rescind the resolution disqualifying him fo r the season. A request for . regrading Ngakaho to junior status was also favourably considered.

In his report of the United-Rover match last Saturday the referee reported being ridiculed by a Rover player (G. Black) irr questioning the awarding of a try—lt was decided to require the offending player to appear before next week's meeting. Mr McNamara said he was of the opinion the senior selector should also be appointed coach, as his position was at present an invidius one.— Agreed to.

Maniapoto Union wrote asking if Waipa could send a senior representative team to play Maniapoto at Te Kuiti on Saturday next, 24th inst. —Accepted, Mr Quin being appointed manager. The team is to assemble at. the Post Office at 12 noon. It was decided to severely reprimand both Te Awamutu and Parawera clubs in failing to provide balls in their match last Saturday.
