BIG STEAMER ASHORE
WELL-KNOWN LINER BADLY DAMAGED. - DUNEDIN, This Day. According to a cablegram received in Dunedin, the Commonwealth and 'Dominion line's steamer Port Kembla is in a bad way on San Salvador Island, near Cuba. A cablegram received by the manager of the line from London reads as follows: "Lloyd's bulletin regarding the Port Kembla is gloomy. Consider cargo practically lost." The Port Kemhla'is cargo included a large consignment of new season's drapery for the 'D.S.A. iPrivate cablegrams received state that the vess'el was making water in Nos. 1. 2. 3. and 5 holds, and at that tim ecoal was being jettisoned in order •to lighten the steamer, with the object of towing her off. .
