The matter has been the subject of Par liamentary petitions and inquiries, the Public Petitions Committee finally making a recommendation that the whole matter be referred to a Supreme Court judge. The Wools ton Company alleged that the arbitrary action taken by certain Government officers involved them in heavy losses; that while Governmental action was not strictly wrong in law, its actions were wrongful and. unnecessarily harsh in the administration of war regulations, thus causing them great loss. One form of investigation proposed by the Government was refused by tae petitioners, but they expressed willingness to accept the decision of a Supreme Court judge, The inquirywill open in the New fear.
