ELECTRICITY

WORK OF THE MONTH, PROGRESS REPORTS. Reports as follow from the inspector (Mr A. J. Tallby) and works foreman (Mr F. Meyer) were presented at Friday's meeting of the Te Awamutu Electric Power Board. INSPECTOR'S REPORT. During the period since last meeting I have inspected and tested the ifollowing installations plants 12, cow plants 15, other power plants 1, water pumip motors 6, electric stoves 2. Total for month 36. This makes a total to date as follows: Lighting plants 1046, cow plants 369, other power plants 48, water pump motors 49, electric stoves 39. Grand total to date 1551. . Also tested and inspected extensions on four lighting plants. Total extensions to date 330. Inspected 4 grillers installed by contractors. Total grillers installed to date 141. Inspected and tested 21 water boilers installed by contractors. Total water boilers to date 222. (Made out specifications for 6 houses, 4 cow plants, 2 other power plants, 3 water motors, 3 boilers. Also specification in detail for supply and delivery and installation of 8 lighting points, 1 25h.p. ring motor, 1 I's'h.p. slip ring motor, and 1 lOh.p. slip ring motor for the Te Aiwamutu Dairy Co-operative Company. Re-inspected 4 cow plants, 2 houses, 2 boilers. Made out certificates for 12 houses, 15 cow plants, 4 pump motors, 1 stove, 12 boilers. Disconnected 10 heat meters not in use. Tested voltage at 7 places in the area. temporary light for screening results Election Day. Tested all fuse wires used by the Board. Made arrangements with quarry manager to have power off on Saturday 14th to allow extensions under 11,000 volt line. {Attended to 17 minor installation •faults. Carried out the foreman's duties for one week, while foreman on leave. Made up Fire Underwriters' returns for month of October. Tested and installed 33 meters. Attended applications for two stove installations. FOREMAN'S REPORT. . The men have .been engaged on the following:— Frontier Road Circuit. —Changed 7 30ft. poles and 235 ft. standard P. and T. crossing poles. Erected one heavy 30ft. pole for transformers, College Street. Shifted No. 1 transformer and fittings, and rearranged. lines to a more suitable position. Fitted up transformer to supply College Street and extension of Teasdale Street to 'Nursing Home. Ran 7 16T.8. mains from Mrs Bluck's, College Street, through to nursing home. The extra load warranted changing over, this supply to Frontier Road circuit, which was previously fed off' the Pirongia circuit. Pirongia Circuit.—Erected 3 30ft. poles for Dairy Co. Substation supply and 1 extra heavy 30ft. pole for take-off to Dairy Co.'s service. Ran 6 19/17 mains from transformer into Dairy Co. property, and 3 7/16 from transformer to Pakura Street. Dismantled 7.5k.v.a. transformer and fittings at corner of Pakura Street, not now required, as this (will now be supplied from same servie as Dairy Co. Fitted up 50k.v.a. transformer at this point ready to connect up to dairy factory when completed. Ohaupo 11,000 Volt ed 6 35ft. poles carrying E.H.T. and IH.T. lines in the Upper Ohaupo area. Changed lOk.v.a. to lok.v.a. transformer Ohaupo township. Changed 1 30ft. pole mid-Ohaupo damaged by motor car accident. Shifted 3 26ft. poles and lines dangerous under trees at IMr Finlay's and ran 2 L.T. mains from P.O. to connect up Mr Finlay's plant. Cemetery Road.— (Changed 3 30ft. poles Bond Road 'section. IBorough Supply.—'Changed 1 30ft. ipole corner Kihikihi road and Brady Street, put in 3 poles in 3 services off Puniu Road, lines made dangerous through lowering poles on this route after the Borough excavations were made. Fitted up L.T. crossing under 11,000 volt lines GoodfelloW Street to supply power to Mr Sing. Dismantled service line required by consumer for alterations to buildings, Victoria Street.

Kihikihi.-nDoubled up lines to connect up Mr (Coxhead's plant. Changed transformed from 7 to 75 k.v.a. also extended lines to Mr Coxhead's and 'Mr Macky's plants.

Kakeputcu.— low tension lines from Mr Cummings to Mr Wilkening's plant, approximately 40 ch. Lower Ohaupo.—'Extended mains along Lake Road to connect. up Mr 'Bond's. Cut back hawthorn hedges on Mr Edwards' and Mr Bond's properties under power lines. The owners agreed to pay to have same done by the Power Board's main. lAlso cut trees under L.T. lines opposite Mr Graham's. doubled up low tension lines about 30 chains to connect up plant for Mr Sexton. Te Kawa on 11,000 Volt Line.—Ran 2 wires 48 chains to connect up Mr >Bethell's plant. Repaired broken A. B. Switch on Waikeria route.

Park's 1 9k.v.a. to 15k.v.a. transformer and 1 6k.v.a, to 9k.v.a., also 1 6k.v.a. to 7.5 k.v.a. on Hairini Circuit. The following services were connected to the Board's mains for the period: 9 houses, 10 cowplants, 5 pumping plants and 2 other plants. The Board's lorries carted out 9 35ft . 20 30ft. 10 26ft. and 44 24ft. poles.
