In his introductory remarks when lecturing at the School of Music at Nelson recently, the Bishop of Nelson, referring to the coming visit to 'New Zealand of Sir Ernest Rutherford, said the Order of Merit which had been conferred on the New Zealander had not been appreciated as it should have been. There v r ere only 24 members of the Order, which was conferred for distinguished service on the members of the army and navy and on those •who had given similar service in art, literature, and science.
