DRIVERS DISCONTENTED.
STOP WORK MEETING PLANNED. (By Telegraph. —Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Friday. Exception is being taken by the members of the Drivers' Union to the employment by a large firm in the city of two alleged non-unionists, and though nothing is offered officially, a Star representative was informed on reliable authority that a requisition has been signed by members of the union asking the management committee to call a stop work meeting and have the grievance considered. The last time the drivers had a stop work meeting was in 1916, when they were awarded an increase of 4s by the Arbitration Court after they had asked for a 10s increase. Those who remember the incident will recall that on the day fixed for the meeting, drivers, with their lorries, wagone, carts, etc., came from all parts of the city to the Trades' Hall, with the result that Hobson and adjoining streets were Mocked for traffic. Subsequently a grant of another 6s was made, which, with the 4s granted by the Arbitration Court, made 10s.
