DAIRY EXPORT CONTROL.

To the Editor. Sir.—l have heard a great deal of late about, the compulsory clauses of the Dairy Produce Export Control Act hut 1 cannot find anyone able to quote accurately the clauses in question: Doubtless you have a copy of the Act in your office, so I make bold to ask you to give your readers the exact words. -I am, etc.,

! STRAWBERRY, i The following are the material | portions of the clauses which pro- ! vide for the exercise of compulsion and for the levying of taxation:— j 13. (.1) The Board is hereby emi powered to determine from time to j time the extent to which it is necessary, for the effective operation of this Act and the fulfilment of its ' purposes, that the Board should exI ercise control over the export of I dairy produce from Xew Zealand, and may assume control of any such dairy produce accordingly. (4) The control to he exercised by the Board over any dairy produce may. :>• the Board in any case determine- be absolute or limited. (5) All dairy produce of which the Board has assumed absolute control shall be shipped as the Board directs, and shall be sold and disposed of only by the Board, or by, direction of the Board, at such times and in such manner and on sue'-' terms as the Board in its discretion ~determines 15. (1) Tore shall be paid by way of levy on all dairy produce exported from Xew Zealand after a date to be fixed in that behalf by the GovenorGeneral in Council, whether such dairy produce is subject to the control of the Hoard or not such charges as may from time to time be fixed by the Board, not exceeding the maximum charges that may be prescribed in that behalf by regulations under this Act (being not more in any case than one-eighth of a penny in respect of each pound of butter and one-sixteenth of a penny in respect of each pound of cheese exported as aforesaid). —Ed.
